Architecture – Overview
Architecture
You may now integrate metrics from your own NonStop applications on to Web ViewPoint Enterprise (WVP E). Use its Open Architecture and Open-Source Foundation to create a monitor component. Next, use the new automated methods to deploy it in 2 steps:
- Use Studio, a free application offered by Idelji on Remote Analyst to record configuration information of your Monitor App and Publish it.
- Open My NonStop on your NonStop Server to download, install, and start your Monitor App.
Once you are done, Web ViewPoint Enterprise will automatically become aware of the new Metrics your Monitor App generates. You can now add and configure new dash frames on Global Dash that displays the objects and metrics from your newly produced monitor app.
In an open architecture, you can now use Web ViewPoint Enterprise to display metrics from your own and 3rd party Applications available to install from My NonStop such as Shadowbase Monitor, Base24 Monitor, Connex Monitor, etc.
Following guidelines in an Opensource format, you can develop modules that read and maintain metrics in memory from other sources on NonStop. Using a YAML structure, this information can then be passed to Web ViewPoint Enterprise. Using a fully data driven architecture, Web ViewPoint Enterprise can display the metrics on its Global Dash and include it in its Alert features, where you can set Alert and forward conditions and take necessary automated action in case anything goes wrong.
- Data Driven Architecture.
Web ViewPoint Enterprise is based on an open, data-driven architecture to display metrics from your own and 3rd party Applications available to install from My NonStop such as Shadowbase Monitor, Base24 Monitor, Connex Monitor, Spooler Monitor, or any App that you produce or publish using Studio.
Using a fully data driven architecture, Web ViewPoint Enterprise can display the metrics on its Global Dash and include it in its Alert features, where you can set Alert and forward conditions and take necessary automated action in case anything goes wrong. Web ViewPoint Enterprise can now also integrate and share some data like EMS Alerts with external applications such as Splunk, Kibana, Tableau. It can automatically open tickets with ServiceNow. And it can connect with Local/Remote Analyst to display all your historical data and more. Web ViewPoint Enterprise integrates seamlessly with any Enterprise tools as far as they support SNMP, SysLog, and JSON communication protocols.
- Neighborhoods and Connections
A Neighborhood is a collection of NonStop Servers, each of which has a running copy of Web ViewPoint Enterprise. Each Server in this model is called a Resident. Each Resident holds information (e.g., IP address / name) about all other Residents in its Neighborhood. Web ViewPoint Enterprise connects to each Resident directly (Expand is not used), and in doing so learns about all other Residents/neighbors. It is therefore able to retrieve information from all Residents and display content on one or more Browser Windows as its user requires. Besides this, you can also see all connections between your monitoring applications with all your servers through My NonStop’s user-friendly interface which will also help to start or stop any of these products, manage their configuration parameters, export their profiles to Splunk or Remote Analyst, download their handbooks with the configured settings, upgrade, and delete them directly through it, without the need to write any scripts for these operations.
All this makes Web ViewPoint Enterprise a highly effective platform so that users can monitor all the required metrics from all the servers all-in-one-place directly through the user interface without having the need of using almost any NonStop command.
- Installation: New & Upgrade.
An automated installation tool called My NonStop is provided by Idelji Corporation on NonStop for free. This will help you install a new instance of Web ViewPoint Enterprise or upgrade/import over from an older version that is supported by WVP E. It will also help you install all your monitoring applications such as Shadowbase Monitor, Base24 Monitor, Connex Monitor, Spooler Monitor, and any of your own in-house applications that you produce and publish using Studio.
On a new installation, it will prompt you to answer a set of configuration settings, after which it can install WVP E on one or more Servers (Residents of a Neighborhood).
Similarly, to install an upgrade, you will be prompted to select NonStop Servers where WVP E was previously installed. It will then upgrade the previous version to the new one, while saving your prior settings, logs, and profiles.
NOTE: It is highly recommended that you run the same version of Web ViewPoint Enterprise on all Residents of a Neighborhood so that you can access all your server information and monitor their metrics all-in-one-place.
